Did anyone else run tonight?

It was a gorgeous night to run outside – at least for January. I didn’t get to go as far as I wanted because it’s dark and there aren’t really any well-lit sidewalks to go on, but it felt great to do a few miles without having my chest burn from the cold air. I really don’t like the treadmill.

  1. I did my first walk/run this morning. It’s frustrating not having the ability to run like I did 20 years ago. Mentally you think you can do what you haven’t done in 2 decades but I listened to my body. During the 1-2 mintues I ran, it felt great but as soon as I felt the fatigue in the legs/butt, I knew it was time to pull back into a fast walk. This morning it was 38 degrees but it felt good after a while. I walked/ran for about 20-25 mintues and took 5 to cool down and stretch. Hopefully my body will feel good later!

    • That’s great! Congratulations! You’re doing the right thing by starting slow. Just remember to listen to your body. It will take some time when you first try to get back into it. We may not have the ability to run like when we were 20, but we tend to have more endurance as we get older and our bodies sacrifice speed. Keep going!
